Everyone knows there was a major earthquake in Christchurch in September.
There have been continual tremors since.
I arrived at my accommodation very near the centre of Christchurch last Saturday at 3pm and left the city at 11.30am on Sunday. I did not feel anything but a search discovers there was a 2.7 just after 4pm at a depth of 20km , a 2.8 at about 1am on Sunday depth 5km and a 2.5 about 8am at less than km depth.
However on Monday there were 2 at 3, 1 at 3.5 and 1 at 4.1 plus many smaller and today there was a 5 at 6am plus many at 3 or smaller. Altogether 54 tremors in the last 7 days.
Naturally people are worried that weakened structures will fall, lots have had their chimneys removed in case. And doctors report many illnesses due to stress.
I was a little disappointed that I felt nothing but prayers are needed for those who live there and put up with it every day.

Whether you feel the aftershocks depends on many things including the building you are in and the ground under you. I had a house years ago in Berkeley where I could feel quakes as small as 2.5 and got pretty accurate In telling the approximate magnitude. I then moved and could only feel quakes above 3.5. Prayers for all the people of Christchurch who are feeling the stress of this disaster.
Prayers indeed in an uncertain time.
Be assured we are praying for the people of Christchurch.
Worried about you now. Are you O.K?
